The Forrest County Road Manager is Steve Keith. The Road Manager serves as an appointed position and is responsible for oversight of all road and bridge maintenance and repair operations. Road crews are directly supervised by a foreman who reports directly to the Road Manager. In addition, the Road Manager works closely with the Board of Supervisors, the County Administrator and other State and local officials to ensure that Forrest County is equipped with a safe and convenient transportation network. Central Shop maintains all heavy equipment such as dozier, backhoes, loaders, track hoes, all rubber-tired tractors, and dump trucks for Forrest County. At Central Shop they perform all types of maintenance such as: welding and electrical work for Forrest County’s Fleet. Central Ship also does all types of minor and major vehicle repairs, brake jobs, cooling systems, and hydraulic systems maintenance. Central Shop repairs and maintains all recreation equipment such as: lawnmowers, weed eaters, edgers and chain saws to name a few. Central Shop is run by O.B. Cooley, the hours of operation are: 6:30-5:00 Monday-Thursday.
